Pioneers of Punjab Medical Center Hospital
Punjab Medical Center Hospital was founded by Professor Fateh Akhtar Khan and his wife Professor Dr. Fakhar-un-Nisa. He was a legend in the field of medicine, a founder of specialty of urology in Pakistan. He saved thousands of lives. He was also a great teacher and went on to train urologists who served all over the country.
He performed the first renal transplant surgery in Pakistan at Mayo hospital and also introduced lithotripsy for the treatment of kidney stones. He helped establish the kidney center in Karachi and Mayo surgical tower in Lahore.
Among many contributions, Punjab medical center was his first private urology center in Pakistan which he established with a view of providing quality health care services at affordable prices.
This mission was accomplished with active participation of his wife Professor Dr. Fakhar-un-Nisa, the renowned gynecologist, ex-principle of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, and a chairperson of SOGP, Pakistan.
